2021 KASCOE Scholarship Recipients
Congratulations to the following recipients of the 2021 Open Continuing Education Scholarship.
Kaitlyn Alvey was the winner of KASCOE's 2021 Open Continuing Education Scholarship recipient. Kaitlyn is from Owensboro, Kentucky and attends Brescia University. Once she graduates, she hopes to begin a floral/produce farm. Kaitlyn stated, "I love to watch things grow. I am excited for the opportunities that may come my way!"

Traditional Scholarship Program
Briley Robinson
1st Place Winner
Briley Robinson is a senior at Logan County High School. She is the daughter or Russellville Service Center PT, Laura Robinson. Her activities include FFA, BETA, FBLA, as well as church activities at New Friendship Baptist. She is a student ambassador. Following graduation, Briley plans to attend Western Kentucky University and double-major in Chemistry and Biology, after which she hopes to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham: School of Optometry.
Clay Monroe
Clay Monroe will graduate from Pendleton County High School's Class of 2020. He plans to attend Northern Kentucky University and major in Business Management. He is the son of Michele Monroe, PT, Falmouth Service Center.
Courtney Peyton
Courtney is the daughter of Joey and Tina Peyton. Joey is a PT in the Madisonville FSA Service Center. Courtney is 17 years old and has grown up on her family's farm. Courtney will be graduating from Madisonville North Hopkins High School with a 4.0 GPA. Courtney has played softball and basketball and has been active in Key Club, Beta Club and FCA. Courtney will continue her education at Brescia University in the fall, where she will continue to play basketball and softball. Courtney would like to teach Math at the high school level and would like to eventually coach basketball and/or softball.
Lindsey Peyton
Lindsey is the daughter of Joey and Tina Peyton. Joey is a PT in the Madisonville FSA Service Center. Lindsey is 17 years old and has grown up on her family's farm. Lindsey will be graduating from Madisonville North Hopkins High School with a 3.9 GPA. Lindsey has played softball and basketball and has been active in Key Club, Beta Club and FCA. Lindsey will continue her education at Brescia University in the fall, where she will continue to play basketball and softball. Lindsey would like to teach Health and PE at the high school level and would like to eventually coach basketball and/or softball.

Ashlyn Summers
Ashlyn Summers will be a Junior at Campbellsville University this Fall. She will be majoring in Art Education and minoring in music. Ashlyn is very passionate about visual art, singing and working with children. Over the course of the past year, she has been employed at The Children’s House daycare, and it has served to solidify her decision to pursue a career in teaching. Ashlyn is the daughter of Kim Summers, PT, Somerset Service Center.
2018 KASCOE Scholarship Recipients
KASCOE is pleased to recognize the following recipients of 2018 Traditional and Open Scholarships. All scholarship recipients will be awarded $500 upon submission of proof of enrollment to KASCOE Treasurer, Patti Karn.

Ashlyn Summers
Ashlyn Summers, daughter of Patrick and Kim Summers (PT, Somerset Service Center), of Eubank Kentucky, is a 2018 graduate of Pulaski County High School. Ashlyn had a 4.1 GPA during high school and was active in Chamber Choir, Drama Club, National Honor Society and Art Clubs as well as her church during high school. She will attend Somerset Community College for the first two years of college, then will transfer to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree. Ashlyn is interested in working in the clinical setting in the mental health field.
Slader Sullivan
Slader Sullivan, son of Jeff and Marsha Sullivan (PT, Kevil Service Center), will be attending Murray State University, pursuing a degree in Agriculture Technology. He graduated in Ballard County High School's class of 2018. Slader is active on the family farm, overseeing approximately 1,100 acres of row crops, along with 100 head of cattle and forage production.
Open Scholarship Program
Cheyenne Perry
Cheyenne was 2017 Traditional Scholarship Recipient, and was selected as winner of the 2018 Open Scholarship Program. She is the daughter of Jason and Sherry Perry (PT, Glasgow Service Center); graduate of Metcalfe County in 2017. She is about to complete her first year at Lindsey Wilson College. She plans be a teacher and has chosen my specific major to be Middle Grades Educations, with and emphasis is Mathematics and Science. She has maintained a 4.0 GPA while in college, and plans to graduate from Lindsey Wilson College in the spring of 2021.

Cheyenne Perry
Cheyenne is the daughter of Jason and Sherry Perry; a graduate of Metcalfe County High School. She participates in multiple clubs and extracurricular activities: National Honor Society (President), FFA (Committee Chair), 4-H, Varsity Basketball and Varsity Volleyball (Captain for both Basketball and Volleyball). Cheyenne will be attending Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia in the Fall of 2017, and plans to major in Education.
Open Scholarship Program
Kassandra Hamilton
Kassandra is the 20 year old daughter of KASCOE member Scott Hamilton, Program Technician at the Paris Service Center. Kassandra is a Morehead State University Junior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Special/Elementary Education. She currently has a cumulative GPA of 3.75. Kassandra serves as the Special Needs Camp of Ky inc. Reporter and assists in planning/fundraising for this nonprofit organization. Kassandra also volunteers with the Distinguished Young Woman of Rowan/Bath counties. Kassandra also volunteers with the Miss Bath County Pageant annually. Kassandra also enjoys attending 4-H Camp with her County as an Adult Counselor. Kassandra simply enjoys volunteering to help her community flourish/grow. Once Kassandra receives her degree, she plans to apply for jobs. Later on in her career, Kassandra plans to work towards a Master’s Degree.

Luke Estes

1st Place - KASCOE, forwarded to SEA Scholarship Chairperson
Luke is the son of Hopkins County PT, Patricia Estes. He will graduate from Caldwell County High School in May. He has maintained a 3.85 GPA and will finish in the Top 20 of his class. He is the Student Council President, member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), and National Honor Society (NHS). He serves as captain of the CCHS Tennis team. In addition, he has been a part of the leadership planning for See You at the Pole and the Student Leadership Team of Northside Baptist Church in Princeton. He will attend Boyce College in Louisville in the fall and plans to study Expository Preaching and Church Leadership.
Matthew Ballman
Matthew Ballman is the 17 year old son of Chris and Juanita Ballman (FLO, Hardinsburg, Associate KASCOE Member) of Hudson, KY. He is currently a senior at Breckinridge County High School. His plans are to obtain an Agribusiness degree with an emphasis in crop production from Murray State University. He is an active member of FFA and has participated in Impromptu Speaking at the Local, Regional, and State Level. He is also a member of the Varsity Baseball Team. Matthew has been involved in showing swine since he was 4 years old. Matthew says, “While I enjoy school and all the activities I have been involved in, my passion is working with Dad on the farm. We raise 1,700 acres of row crops. I enjoy planting, operating the grain cart, bush hogging, and hauling the grain. The last several years I have helped dad teach grain safety to all 4th grade students in the county. Being raised on a farm has taught be responsibilities that most teenager don’t learn until they leave home.” After obtaining his degree, he hopes to return to the farm and continue the operation with his parents that his great grandfather stated.
Benjamin Benton
Benjamin Benton is the son of Mike and Paula Benton. His father is Mike Benton, CED for Boone, Kenton and Campbell County. Ben is currently a freshman at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He has a passion for agriculture like nothing else. Ben wants to pass on his experiences and opportunities by becoming an Agriculture Education Teacher. His ultimate goal one of these days is to become a School Principal and continue farming on the family farm in Walton, Kentucky.

Kassandra is the 19 year old daughter of KASCOE member Scott Hamilton, Program Technician at the Paris Service Center. Bethany McKinney
Bethany is the 21 year old daughter of Dana McKinney, CED, Stanford/Harrodsburg Service Centers. She is a junior at EKU, majoring in Agribusiness Management. She is currently serving as Delta Tau Alpha’s (DTA, National Agriculture Honor Society) National Secretary and as local DTA’s Secretary. Her plans after graduation are to get a job in her degree area. Bethany says she would like to work for USDA.

Clay Smotherman
1st Place - forwarded to SEA Scholarship Chairperson
Clay is a 2015 graduate of Calloway County High School. He graduated as Valedictorian of his class and served as Captain of the 2015 Region One Champion CCHS Laker Basketball team. Clay was a member of the National Society of High School Scholars and Leadership Tomorrow. While attending CCHS Clay was an active member of the FFA and was awarded the Regional STAR farmer award for 2015. Clay plans to attend Murray State University this fall and will major in Agronomy. He is the son of Murray CED, Sharlisa Smotherman.
Kassandra Hamilton
Daughter of Bourbon County PT, Scott Hamilton. Kassandra is a Bath County High School senior. She has maintained a 3.9 GPA and plans to attend Morehead State University in the fall to major in Learning/Behavioral Disorders and Mid-Sever Disabilities Special Education.
Timothy Watson
Son of Columbia Service Center PT, Angella Watson and Craig Watson of Columbia, KY. Timothy graduated from Adair County High School and is attending the University of Kentucky on a Presidential Scholarship for academic achievement. He is exploring Chemical Engineering or Chemistry as a course of study when he begins school in August, 2015.
Andrew Day
Andrew will be attending Western Kentucky University this fall, majoring in Business.
He is the son of Henderson PT, Kelly Day.
Paul Styke
Paul is enrolled at Owensboro Community and Technical College where he plans to obtain an Associate of Arts degree. He is considering a future career in law enforcement and may attend Eastern Kentucky University, to pursue a degree in criminology. Paul is the son of Dan Styke, CED, Owensboro.
Layden Coffey
Layden Coffey graduated from Campbellsville High School in May, 2015. He enrolled and started classes at the Nashville Auto Diesel College in June, 2015. He is specializing in heavy equipment and is looking forward to a career in diesel mechanics. He will be graduating July, 2016. He is the son of Janet Biggs, CED Marion and Washington Counties and Bill Coffey.
Open Scholarship Program
Katherine Taylor was a 2013 KASCOE Traditional Scholarship recipient. She is furthering her education and is well qualified to be recognized for the NASCOE Open Scholarship. Katherine will be awarded $500 from KASCOE and her application is forwarded to the SEA Scholarship Chairperson.

Evan Harper is recognized as 2014 KASCOE Scholarship recipient
KASCOE congratulates Evan Harper, daughter of Versailles PT, Felicia Harper, for being selected as the 2014 KASCOE Scholarship recipient.
Evan, a senior at Scott County High School, has maintained a 4.0 GPA.
She plans to attend the University of Kentucky as a chemistry major this fall, and hopes to be accepted to the dental program.
Brittany Turner, SEA Scholarship Chairperson (and KY FSA Employee), shares a message of congratulations with KASCOE
Last year I accepted the role as the SEA Scholarship Chairperson for NASCOE. I am very proud to announce that out of 38 applications (all of which were very strong competitors) we received for our area alone (11 states) the scholarship winner was a Kentucky high school student!!! This reflected very well upon our great state! The student’s name was Katherine Taylor and she is the daughter or Tim Taylor, CED in Simpson County. Anytime you can, please congratulate him on behalf of Katherine. We are proud to have such outstanding students in our area and especially in our state. Katherine received $1500 from NASCOE as the area winner and is now competing for an additional $2500 to become the national winner. Again please congratulate Tim when you see him!
2013 Scholarship Winners were announced at the State Convention,
April 29-30, 2013, at Louisville, Kentucky.
The Kentucky Association of County Office Employees would like to congratulate Katherine Taylor, daughter of Simpson County CED Tim Taylor, for being selected as the 2013 KASCOE Scholarship recipient. Katherine is a senior at Logan County High School, and will be attending Western Kentucky University in the fall.
In addition to Ms. Taylor, 3 other applicants will also receive scholarships from KASCOE.
Jackson Strong is the son of Janelle Gardner, CED of the Pendleton and Harrison County FSA offices. Jackson is a senior at Pendleton County High School, and will be attending Northern Kentucky University.
Bethany McKinney, daughter of Lincoln County CED Dana McKinney, is a senior at Rockcastle County High School and plans to attend Eastern Kentucky University beginning in the fall semester of 2013.
Mason Monroe is a senior at Pendleton County High School. Mason will be enrolling at Transylvania University to continue his education. Mason is the son of Michele Monroe, Program Technician in the Pendleton County FSA office.
All four students will receive a $500 scholarship from KASCOE. Congratulations to all the recipients.
